Vintage Mexican Folk Art Ashtray From Acapulco - Primitive Design in Doylestown, PA

Vintage ashtray from a bar in Acapulco, Mexico, hand made in a tan ceramic and hand decorated in chocolate brown. The ashtray almost resembles a traditional Mexican molcajete, or mortar, but with a flatter bowl set on the 3 stubby legs. In the center of the ashtray is a primitive cat-like figure wearing a jacket who is surrounded by lettering along the rim that reads "Remember You Bar Don Quijote Acapulco Gro Caleta." Delightful folk art design. Good vintage condition. Surface is quite worn, adding to the visual character. Acquired in Acapulco, Mexico, 1961 Marked on front
